Driver Killed When Car Smashes Through Front Of Harford County Building

An unidentified driver was killed after smashing through the front of a building in Harford County, authorities said.

The westbound lanes of the 300 block of Route 40 were closed at Beards Hill Road Extension in Aberdeen due to the fatal crash at about 1:20 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, according to Aberdeen police.

The vehicle was traveling west when it crossed over into the eastbound lanes of traffic then crossed over a median, returned to the westbound lanes, and struck a building, police said.

The driver was taken to an area hospital by ambulance and later pronounced dead.

Investigators from the Aberdeen Police Department and Harford County Sheriff's Office were working to determine the cause of the collision.
